EarthWhorls Introduces the Gems of January

by Susan A. Katz January 12, 2016

There are many people who face January and the long winter ahead with a sense of dread.  They think of days with limited hours of daylight and frigid nights with the wind howling outside the window.  Call me crazy but, I love January and I love winter!

For me it’s a cozy time of long hours spent with a fire crackling in the fireplace and hot soup cooking in the slow cooker.  It’s a time of sledding on the back hill – if the snows ever come!  And it’s a time for celebrating the beauty of rivers coated with ice and a single red Cardinal in my Hawthorne tree, surrounded by berries that are even brighter than him.

And as a poet and jewelry designer, it’s a time for creating! And so, it is with great pleasure that I present my latest creations, the “Gems of January!”  It is a collection that is as varied and filled with excitement as the winter ahead.   There are pearls and gemstones that are as jagged as the peaks of the Matterhorn.  There are stones that are bright and filled with light like sunlight bouncing off the frozen ponds in the valley below my home.

And it is a time of planning for the spring.  I cannot help but look at my Magnolia tree and see the buds that are tight and frozen now but, filled with the beauty and possibility that spring will unwind.  The designs I present to you now are perfect for January and February and March and on into spring and they will sing to you all through summer and take you again into fall and winter.  Jewelry is timeless – not bound by seasons but part of the ever changing beauty that is you and your sense of fashion and the joy you find in the wonder of the natural world.

With a bit of pride and a lot of joy, I present the “Gems of January!”  Let me know which ones catch your eye or give you pleasure.  Your comments guide and inspire me.

Wishing you a safe, warm, cozy January,

- Susan
