Lapis, Fresh Water Pearl & Sterling Silver Necklace

I will have to admit it, I fell in love with the large lapis stone that I used as a focal point in this design.  I found the stone at a gem show - just sitting there in a little container, all by itself.  It glowed in the dim light that seems always to be part of those shows - as though, the dealers of gems don't want anything to overpower the beauty of the stones and silver, they are selling.  This stone needed only to be, to catch my eye.  It is as blue as blue gets - with tiny inclusions of light that could be gold or could be silver or could be a deeper, darker blue or lighter, softer blue.  I loved the high polish of the stone - the unusual shape - the size - the feel of it in my hand and I knew it would become part of an EarthWhorls design - I just needed to wait for it to speak to me.  And it did!  White, fresh water pearls and lapis chips and a large, open sterling silver toggle just seemed to float together on the wings of inspiration.  Dramatic and a bit daring - elegant and yet, certainly there is a casual air about it, a bit chunky and yet wonderfully graceful, this necklace will be the highlight of your jewelry box - all of the other stones will feel a twinge of envy at the simple beauty of this single, magnificent stone. This necklace is a tribute to the endless beauty to be found in the natural world - if only one is open to it!   Length: 18"
